Maritime Professionals noticed great curiosity from its maritime audience regarding the situation of the SMM exhibition in Hamburg. Previously to be held from 8-11th September 2020, the event is postponed to 2-5 February 2021 due to COVID-19. However, the majority of the members in Maritime Professionals are expecting the event to be postponed again.
Last week we posted an exclusive article, where the Manager of SMM, Claus Ulrich Selbach, Business Unit Director at the Hamburg Messe und Congress answered a couple of questions about the current situation of the event.
Claus Ulrich Selbach affirms their fully commitment to make sure that SMM takes places in February, reassuring that the event follows the guidelines of the authorities and intends to provide safe measures for the exhibitors and the visitors.
Nonetheless, nothing is definitive yet. Exhibitors will receive a Health & Safety Guidelines in October, where they have to take a decision on whether to participate in the event.
Claus Ulrich Selbach states “In the first days of November, we will finally know who is moving with us into February and whether SMM will be a hybrid or purely digital event. As of today, the feedback from the industry is very positive: more than 80% of the exhibitors from 2018 want to join us in February. And new registrations keep coming in. That’s great news so far.”
The SMM team is well aware that the pandemic is still developing very dynamically and that nobody knows what the situation will be next year. In that case, there is a chance for the event to be purely digital. Watch the video message below for more information.
