Furetank Rederi AB has signed a contract for a new product tanker of 17,999 dwt, which will be built on Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding in China. The vessel will be a sister vessel and identical to the six vessels already built for Furetank, Älvtank and Erik Thun. The contract also includes an option for another vessel.Selling new ship
In addition, they sell their barely one year old LNG-powered vessel Fure Vinga to a Canadian shipping company. The vessel will be taken over by the new owners as early as April.
- During the year that has passed since the delivery of Fure Vinga, others have shown great interest in our new vessels and the benefits they provide through reduced emissions and less noise. We have mixed feelings about selling the ship, but the commitment from her new owner, who also operates in winter conditions and under strong environmental regulations, is a confirmation that we have succeeded with the design of Fure Vinga, says Lars Höglund, CEO of Furetank Rederi AB.
- To replace her in the fleet, we have therefore chosen to order at least one vessel from Avic Dingheng.Focus on the environment
The new vessel will, like the sister vessels, have a strong focus on as little environmental impact as possible through dual-fuel machinery that goes on LNG and other functions that help reduce the environmental impact and energy consumption.
The new vessel has planned delivery in the fourth quarter of 2020.
